quilt bag

I had been wondering how to wrap/package my quilt that has been sold to a local customer when I came up with the idea of piecing serging together precut squares to make a drawstring tote bag.  Another way to use up the fabrics that represent the farmhouse way of living.

  

"use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without".

I like this bag so much I just may make several and have them ready to wrap/package all my quilts.

another kaleidoscope scrap quilt/project DONE....

After making several quilts I usually have enough scraps that I can make another kaleidoscope project.  This one seemed to take longer than usual.  Oh well, it's DONE.  I even have my new quilt label on there.

Woke up to temps in the single digits here in the Ozarks. At least the SUN is shining. Grabbed some coffee and restoked the wood stove to warm the bones. NO outside photos for me today. 

Spent yesterday fabric shopping with a friend.  I was able to get this quilt quilted late afternoon and into the night.  Plans are to add the binding so that I can get it finished up and added to the shop....today. Already have another quilt in mind. That is after I refold all the fabric I bought yesterday.  Yes EQ I did purchase your fabrics and should have that mailed out by the weekend.

I've not been getting good photos of my quilts indoors with all the gloomy weather we are having here in the Ozarks.  With tools in hand this morning I hung a laundry line higher than normal between two trees right outside my back deck so that I can hang my quilts and be able to take better photos to share.

The Big One

This next project is based on a memory quilt, trophy quilt, man cave throw,etc.  The framed squares were finished earlier today and I still can't decide what sashing to use, real tree camo print, chambray, denim, etc.  Here are the blocks that I'm tweaking to determine what sashing to use. It took longer this week to cut up the thrifted plaid, flannel shirts and misc remnants and to dig thru my stash to finish out these blocks with more masculine plaids, flannels and of course real tree camo print.  I think the camo sashing is too busy but will spread out the squares with several sashing options when it's not 1:30am.

I wanted to add this, my very first full size quilt to Crazy Mom Quilts blog for her Finish Up Friday challenge.  The quilt top got finished late last night and with a busy morning and gloomy weather I've not been able to get good photos and missed the deadline to add this quilt to that challenge.  The colors are more vibrant than these photos show.

This quilt and pillow cover (see below) should be in the shop sometime next week. I've taken suggestions from friends and family to start writing patterns and have photographed the process in order to soon have a pattern also available for sale.

I look forward to quilting this on my Gammill longarm quilter.

Today is gloomy and this pillow cover 

did not photograph as well as it should have.

You would never know from this photo
 that my house is in turmoil.

We have removed the inefficient fireplace and

are in the process of installing a

475 lb. wood burning stove.

That behemoth is sitting within inches of 

this rocker. 

Today I taped and mudded the drywall in the corner 
where the wood stove will eventually sit, 
even before going into my sewing room 
to quilt this pillow cover.

My dining room is currently housing a Gammill quilting machine 

waiting to be put together and set up.

To get thru all the mess in my house I rely on 
sewing as my therapy. 
As you can see by recent posts 
I am having lots of "therapy".
